My Story

Melissa Beaupre, Founder

Melissa Beaupre, Founder

I am Melissa Beaupre, a 32 year old mother of two little girls,  and a wife to an incredible man.  The Swing Thing was an idea that came to mind in 2013 when my first born daughter was six months old, and I was expecting my second child.  Like many moms, I was constantly looking for fun places to go, and more often than not, we ended up at a playground.  In sunny Tsawwassen, BC we have a number of nice parks to choose from, and nearly all of them have bucket swings.  My girls loved, I mean LOVED bucket swings. If they were occupied it would cause screams of anger, and if they were free it would simply be a point and a grunt. Either way, they were obsessed. However, I always had the same issue, my adventurous little baby wanted to swing more than anything but she didn't have the skills yet to stabilize herself in the swing.  So, as a solution, every day I would pack three extra blankets to wedge my tiny human snugly into the swing. I will never forget the smile on her face once she was cozy and secure. She could feel the breeze in her face and the tickle in her tummy - she was swinging.

But packing so many extra blankets every day was just not practical, so with that in mind, armed with the help and moral support of my best friend and mother, Debra, we started thinking seriously about our idea as an invention. However, in July of 2014, a terrible accident occurred, and my mom was taken from me.  After this loss I couldn't move, I couldn't breath, and it was all I could do just to put one foot in front of the other and take care of my babies. I thought my dreams ended there. But they didn't.

On November 28th 2015, I woke up from a deep sleep with the Swing Thing on my mind, I suddenly felt an overwhelming drive to move forward. And from that day, with my strength from God, I have been moving with passion and determination on this. So this is how the story has begun, and truthfully I do not know how it will end. What I do know is that this is a product that I strongly believe in, and it is something that I wish I had when our girls were babies. The name Swing Thing was my mom's idea, and I think it's perfect. I hope that parents everywhere will enjoy it, no matter the age or ability of your child, and that you, and your little one, can have a more comfortable swing.

Thank you for taking the time to check us out,

Melissa Beaupre

INSERTING:

1. Undo the elastics. 2. Place the Swing Thing™ into the front of the bucket swing with the logo facing outward. 3. Fasten each of the front Velcro straps, making sure they meet at the outer front of the swing. 4. Place your child into the swing with their stomach pressed against the cushioning. 5. Secure your child using the large Velcro back strap so that they are snug. Ensure that you have pressed it together for maximum comfort and security.

PACKING UP:

1. Undo the Velcro back strap. 2. Slide the child to the back of the swing (or take them out of the swing). 3. Undo the front fastened Velcro straps from the front of the swing. 4. Fold the small fastening straps on to one another (non logo side). 5. Starting from the shorter back strap end, roll tightly over the already folded fastening straps. 6. Finish by wrapping the longer back strap around the outside, and secure with the elastics.
